We've done an awfully poor job of it, haven't we, Ron? In the 30 years since you took office, and the 22 since you left the country to us, we've pretty much sat on our hands as our freedom has been usurped, bit by bit. Whether its multiculturalism or anthropogenic global warming or political correctness, we've watched as the Left has pushed its agenda aided and abetted by the horrible brand of socialism lite that infests your beloved Republican party. And now we're at a point where the very fabric of the country is at stake.
And we're fighting back! We can only pray that it's not too little too late, but we are at least fighting back. We're electing Republicans across the country, and better yet, we're electing conservatives! And lo and behold, a few of them even seem to get it. The case in point - and the focal point of this blog - is Governor Walker in Wisconsin and his battle against public sector unions. This is shaping up to be a microcosm of the general battle our generation must wage to pass freedom on to the next. We are very close to the brink, but we have awakened. The 2010 elections were a loud, boisterous statement by the public, and the 2012 elections will hopefully be a further step in the redirection of our country. But in the meantime, we have a pitched battle.
If you've just awakened from a coma, the situation in Wisconsin is almost unimaginable. The people of that relatively blue state decided they had had enough and stood up and elected not only a Republican Governor but also flipped both chambers of the state government from Democrat to Republican. One of the new Republican majority's first moves was to introduce a bill greatly curtailing public sector union activity, requiring among other things that unions collect their own dues and be certified annually. The Democrats then ... ran away.
Literally. They ran off to Illinois in order to prevent a quorum. They ran to Illinois because had they stayed in Wisconsin, they would be subject to arrest for not carrying out their sworn oaths. This is an almost painfully perfect example of the difference between the Right and the Left. When the Right recognizes the nation is going the wrong way it mobilizes and elects new representatives, giving them the firm instructions to go fix things. In short, we use the democratic process as intended by the Founding Fathers. When the Left doesn't like things, it uses every possible tactic, legal or illegal, moral or immoral, to push its agenda. Obstructionist tactics, fear mongering, intimidation, none of it is beneath the Left. And they call Republicans the Party of No?
Anyway, ths blog came about when I finally had enough of the duplicity of the Left. Young, petite journalists being manhandled by union thugs. Elderly protesters being harrassed and assaulted, wishes for their death. Homophobic slurs and deranged vitriol being spewed. And they say that the Tea Party members are full of hate? Will the mainstream media report on this? Will we hear demands for civility from the White House?
Of course not. They are only being reported in the new media, and I'm sure the Journolisters, wherever they hang out today, are desperately hunkered down hoping that this too shall pass. We can't let that happen. And to that end, I want this blog to be a central point to record and track all those duplicitous actions. I want there to be one place anyone can go to and see the nature of this struggle. Please feel free to post your examples. I'll cull through them and try to make sure the blog remains focused on these events.
Be forewarned; I'll be very strict about the content. Stay on point, post examples of bad behavior. If you find examples of the Right misbehaving, post that as well. We need to be as mindful or even more mindful of our own house.
